2008 Partners Challenge Ride

Weekend Get-Away

September 20th and 21st
An exciting and challenging mountain bike ride and weekend get-away offered by Partners
Cerro Summit to Ouray
Day1 is approx. 59 miles, Saturday, September 20th

The day begins early at the top of Cerro Summit (Hwy 50 East of Montrose). Registration begins at 7 a.m. Riders start by 8 a.m. You can set your own pace as this is not a race.

Scenes from How the West Was Won and True Grit were filmed along this magnificent route winding through national forests and river basin country. The stunning peaks of Chimney Rock and Courthouse Mountain pierce the blue Colorado sky as you ride this 1885 cattle drive trail. The ride is up and down with some big rollers to the Big Cimarron, Beaver Lake and Silver Jack area and through some of the most spectacular scenery in Colorado. Our test riders rate this ride as moderate to difficult. Lunch will be served at the top of Owl Creek Pass. From the top of the pass, it's a quick descent to Highway 550 and on to the bike path into Ridgway. From there, it's a twelve-mile back country road to Ouray.

The ride will be fully supported with sag wagons, well-supplied rest stops and a bike mechanic. For our riders, we will provide dinner, passes to the Ouray Hot Springs Pool and hotel accommodations. Spend the evening in beautiful downtown Ouray exploring this historic western town.

Ouray To Montrose
Day 2 is approx. 45 miles, Sunday, September 21st

Sunday morning Partners will treat you to a nutritious and bountiful breakfast before you take off for Ridgway. There is a steep uphill climb on Log Hill Road, but it's the only really challenging part of Sunday's ride. You'll be taking the truly scenic route to Baldridge Park in Montrose. A celebration will be held in the park with great food, and prizes and entertainment.
